ILLUSTRATION
This art piece was very interesting todo. It was add an element into a scene. I add Godzilla treading through water on my Hawaii trip I took before I made this painting.
While making this painting it was tricky to figure out. Since the main reference I had was a photoshop version of this to get the idea across for me. There where some trouble on how dark to make the cloud behind Godzilla.
This piece outcome I like. Can it be improved yes. Can I learn from this yes.
This is my rendition of N.C. Wyeth Ridge Church Painting. This was apart of my midterm project for my painting class. Where we have to pick a artist from a list and find a painting from a chosen artist to paint. But there was a challenge that came with it. All of these artist where oil painters and we have to use acrylic.
For me this was hard trying to make acrylic paint imitate oil. The hardest area in the painting to replicate was the sky. Trying to make the sky look similar to the original was a task. In the end I believe I got it to the degree of the original some parts could use work like the upper right being to bright.
But the final product I liked in the end. I believe that it stayed faithful to the original and carried essence of the original.
I liked this still life project. We were given an assortment of items to choose from. I choose a deer skull, a deep crimson chalice, and a gemstone orb. Placed on a velvet cloth in this configuration for a interesting composition. I set up the composition to make it seem like an occult member getting ready to start a ritual of some type.
In this painting getting the right texturing is very tough to execute. With the amount of shadow and dark tones. One of the toughest areas in the painting for me was the skull it had so many shifts in tones and color. Within the reference for this painting the skull was absorbing the light it created interesting shapes and shadows so replicating it was a a good challenge to work on.
I like how this piece came out, along with the story I did my best to incorporate into it. I would like to do more still life subject like this, to better hone my story telling skills with just simple objects.
This was a fun project to do. It was a random word project where we got to make a painting based around those words. The words that I got where urban legend, charcoal, blue, and watching. Which all following well together.
So I decided to make this painting of Mothman in a winter forest watching the viewer. This was a hard concept and topic to paint since Mothman details are as establish like real creatures.
In the end I’m really glad how this turned out. An I have plans in the future to continue todo a series like this.
I love this project it was fun to paint and think of what to do. For this project it was just about making a story. Working on our illustration skills as artist. I decided to create a paleo-illustration reason being was ever since I was young I was always fascinated by dinosaurs. So when this project was given to us I knew what to do.
With this project I had trouble with the subject matter. Since we don’t fully know what they look like exactly so I have to look at some close relatives for reference. But it was still a difficult task to do since we know very little but that was the fun that came from this art piece.
I love how this came out I tried to be realistic but with the lack of data on what they look like. But once it was finished I like the results.
